The Paranormal Plumes were kind enough to take me under their wing, and in honor of Valentine’s Day they’ve put together a blog hop that dares to kiss and tell about our first meaningful pucker.

Kiss and tell?

Me?

Always.

The setting was simple, high school, senior year.

Fourth period.

Mrs. Johnson's English class.

I sat on the girl’s side of the room, (we had inadvertently self segregated by gender and only later did I find out that the boys were enjoying the peek-a-boo view our miniskirts afforded, but that’s not my story to tell.) The only view I enjoyed was of a brown-eyed boy with lashes that could touch me from all the way across the room. A smile that had the power to slay females for a ten-mile radius and often did. And, a personality that demanded your attention, held onto you and followed you into your dreams. The best part was, all of those great attributes were rolled into one person. And he was the star football player. Incredible, I know.

It was torment only having him in one class. Sure, I got to see him perform on the field, even cheered from the bleachers but so did everyone else. To him I was just another face in the crowd.

Every day I grew a little bolder and smiled a little longer in his direction. I let our gaze fall naturally, then let it linger until my cheeks burned and I had to look away. Weeks, grew into months and we progressed to polite hellos in between classes. At least he knew I was alive, but deep down inside I wasn’t happy with that. I wanted more. I wanted all of him.

Prom rolled around and I burned to ask him. I wanted to extend the invite and finally declare my insane obsession with him, well, maybe at least the fact I was interested, but the moment came and went. I ended up going to prom with a friend who asked me and the boy I really wanted, the high school football star, stayed home instead.

School was wrapping up. Our senior year was done. Two days until graduation and Mrs. Johnson let us sign yearbooks the entire class.

I spent the entire hour anxiously waiting for him to cross my path, but we artfully avoided one another and the hour passed.

That night, in a fit of frustration I swore to myself I was going to exchange yearbooks with him the next day. I stayed up all night trying to think up the perfect thing to say to the boy I spent my entire senior year worshiping from afar. I made my friends read through a dozen prospective entries to help me narrow down just the right sentiment. It went something like; I hope we can K.I.T this summer. I would really like to get to know you better! #555-callme (Yes, at the end of the day brevity won out.)

The bell rang and it was fourth period, our very last day in Mrs. Johnson's English class. The hour began to sift by at an alarming rate and five minutes before the bell let out I walked bravely over. OK, well, not so bravely, because I was sweating and red-faced and I think I may have tripped in the process, but that’s beside the point. We exchanged yearbooks.

I thought maybe I’d hear the hallelujah choir, but instead we feverishly wrote our inscriptions and handed back our books just as the bell rang.

“Thank you,” I said.

He smiled and nodded. He could rule an empire with that smile.

I tore into the girl’s bathroom and whipped open the yearbook. It read, “Too bad we didn’t get to know each other better, you seem like a really cool girl. Maybe we can get together over the summer. K.I.T. #555-callme”

He said the exact same thing! Well, OK, not that same thing, but still!!!

Lunch rolled around. I went out to the courtyard and he waved me down, started heading in my direction.

“Hey,” he gave a bashful smile, “so, you would be interested in going out with me?” He seemed unsure.

“Yes!” It may or may not have come out in one lusty cry akin to someone who had just won the lottery.

Without warning he leaned in and planted the softest, most memorable kiss that I had ever experienced before or after. I let it linger like all of those stolen glances we had exchanged so many times before.

I pulled back, shocked and slightly more than elated by his bold gesture.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” I bumbled like an idiot. “I’m not that good.” I confessed as we finally pulled away. (Yes, that was my stupid confession to the denizen of the football field that graced me with his lips, but I digress).

“It’s OK,” he wrapped an arm around my waist like I was his girlfriend, right there in the quad in front of God and all of the cheerleaders-- my girlfriends geeking out in the back. “We have the rest of our lives to get it right.”

I thought that was a bold sentiment when he said it. But you know what? He was right.

We married while we were still in college.

Well there it is, my first meaningful kiss.

Please, don’t be a stranger, tell me all about yours.

I really do want to know.

I am so honored and thrilled to announce that 20^th CENTURY FOX has optioned FILM RIGHTS to the Celestra Series with the intent of turning it into a TV SERIES!!!!!!

In July, I received a call from my literary agent, extraordinaire, Rachelle Gardner who informed me that 20^th Century Fox was interested in FILM RIGHTS!!! I was completely blown away. Rachelle quickly procured highly coveted film agent Joel Gotler (I LOVE that man!) who handled all the details and made sure my fairytale came true.

The Celestra necklace is up for auction!! The auction is being held by KOPN.org and all proceeds go to fund the nonprofit station. Penguin tracks is one of their on air shows that supports young adult books and music. Here's the link if you're interested! The necklace comes with a signed BURN bookmark. NaNo, and non news, and writers, oh my!!!

First, thank you to all the Vets!!!! What an amazing thing you do for us, yesterday, today and tomorrow. Thank you for being our protectors.

I’m really going to try and be a better blogger and put out more than one post every two months, so here’s my best effort. I have some non news, auction news, and some Indelible writer friends I’d love to share with you guys.

NaNo!!! I officially ate it when I received my edits back for VEX, so I’ll have to continue my NaNo efforts another month. DeNo or JaNo, anyone? But, forget about me. How are YOU doing? Please leave me some seriously awesome or not so awesome NaNo news in the comments section. I’d luv to hear an update!

The non news! Yes, there is such a thing in my world. My ~big~ *epic news has yet to be revealed. I think the universe is trying to teach me a lesson in patience, and I’m failing miserably. But trust me, I have a blog post all ready to go, and I will hit send as soon as the-powers-that-be allow such a miracle.

The celebrity auction! Yes Virginia there really is an auction. I was starting to wonder myself, but lo and behold it’s up and running!!! Only, my CELESTRA necklace hasn’t been added to the list yet. Perhaps they’ve discovered the celebrity part doesn’t quite apply, lol. Turns out they ARE adding the necklace and the signed bookplate (BURN postcard) at some point this month. As soon as it’s added I’ll post the link. =)

Title reveal of book 4 and 5!!!

The titles for book 4 and 5 in the Celestra series are, WICKED, and VEX!

*The cover for VEX is just a working cover, but I wanted to have it as a place holder over at Goodreads, and the sidebar. I'll do an official cover reveal when the book launch gets closer. VEX isn't the final book in the series, although I am inching my way towards the end.

I have to tell you that I have the world’s greatest readers! Seriously, you are amazing, and I love to hear from you either here, FB, twitter, or Amazon’s discussion boards. I’m finding you everywhere and I’m really loving it!

In about a month I should have some really *exciting* news, which I probably shouldn’t even be mentioning, but who better to share my burgeoning excitement with other than you guys? I can’t give any hints, but stay tuned because IT. IS. EPIC!

Burn, burn, burn, baby burn

Just wanted to give you the heads up that I pressed the publish button over at Amazon. So whenever Amazon can upload the file, BURN will be available for purchase. My guess is sometime in the afternoon, although Amazon can take up to a couple days when they're busy.

And just FYI, BURN is the longest book in the Celestra series thus far, by over 12 thousand words. I blame most of that on Chloe. Also, Skyla seems to be a magnet for danger in this book. If she were a RL friend, I think I would tend to stay away. So, if you're going to be picking up BURN, buckle up your seat belts because it's going to be a bumpy ride!

A hard days night

I finally sent book 3 to my freelance editor last night. I'm hoping it won't have to travel back and forth between the two of us for very long. Edits can be a grueling process and for sure they are a necessary evil.

For writers; Do you dread getting your work back from people who help edit your novel? Are you able to handle critiques well?

A day in the life...

Somehow I've managed to write my tail off and have a normal life in the real world this week. Weird, I know.

Usually the only Real World I'm affiliated with is the one left waiting for me on my DVR at the end of the week. But not this week! I went to the mall (my daughter's sad puppy dog eyes may have influenced me) and then to a bonfire where someone actually dragged their christmas tree out and we watched it go up in flames. And you know what? Even though that tree was dry and brittle it took forever for it to go up in flames. For some reason they burn much quicker and cleaner on the news.

Anyway, on the book front, I'm hard at work on the cover for book 3. The title is playing hard to get, so I'll try and pin that one down too. As soon as I have those nailed down I'll post them. Meanwhile if you get a chance, two nice bloggers were kind enough to review Ethereal and Tremble for me.

I did it!

I penned the words every author looks forward to in her/his novel, 'the end'.

Awesome, right?

Well, sort of. It's really just the beginning of inhaling countless M&M's, Oreos, Starbucks frapps, and a whole array of countless calories otherwise known as edits. Yes. The beat goes on for the writer long after they hit that final scene. Some of us find it a yummier experience than others.

For writers; Do you feel euphoric or deflated when you hit that final page?

For readers; When you hit the last page of a good book, do you feel satisfied or sad that it's over?

First draft blues

I'm almost done with the third book in the Celestra series, or at least I will be later today or sometime tomorrow. It's so fun to run as fast as you can when you're writing that first draft, but ironically that's when my brain says it would rather be editing. And of course when I'm editing my brain thinks it would be much more fun to produce the almighty first draft.

I've been super busy spit shining book number two in the Celestra series. It's looking like the end of April--May-ish. I'm really excited to get it out there. I've been blown away by the response to book one, Ethereal. As soon as I get the cover for book 2 I'll upload it for the world to see.
